What Is Hot & Cold Insulation? Fezeco-Thermal Insulation manufacturers in UAE

Hot & Cold Insulation

Whether hot insulation or cold insulation, it is going to save you a lot of money for sure! But still, it is necessary to choose the right insulation to make your piping system more practical, effective and cost-efficient.

This post is basically intended to make you aware of the difference between the materials used for hot insulation and cold insulation.

Without further ado, let us get into more details…

Hot Insulation Materials

Removable insulation is made to insulate the piping system used for transporting the gas and other substances. The insulation saves your piping system from overheating without affecting the temperature inside. In the long run, this cuts down a large amount of electricity bill and makes your facilities more economical.

There is a laundry list of materials used for used hot insulation. However, the most common materials are:

  • Cray Flex

    • Material with high heat and chemical resistance

  • Resin Bonded Rockwool

    • Resin-bonded Rockwool is used in both cold and hot insulation because of its great thermal, chemical, and heat resistance, as well as its unparalleled dimensional stability.

  • Spiral-wrap Fiberglass

    • Even Though it is challenging to install, it is very cost-effective for your house insulation needs.

Cold Insulation Materials

The material utilized to provide cold insulation is determined by the pipe system that has to be insulated. As a result, the material utilized for hot or cold insulation is determined by the pipe system's modification. The most prevalent cold insulating materials are:

  • Polyurethane Foam

    • Ideal for materials with limited heat conductivity and temperatures below freezing. Low smoke emission and low water vapour permeability are further advantages of polyurethane foam.

  • Rubber foam

    • Highly resistant to moisture vapour so it is often recommended for condensation control

So, What Are The Differences?

  • Cold insulation materials demand a water vapour barrier whereas hot insulation doesn't need that

  • Cold insulation requires a closed-cell structure to prevent moisture from entering. But when it comes to hot insulation, moisture content gets evaporated by the heat. So closed-cell structure is not needed for functioning.

  • Cold insulation has bendable or more flexible insulation than of hot insulation.
